This beautiful example of the W123 saloon was built right at the end of the W123's 10 year life. My opinion (shared by many) is that the W123 was the pinnacle of Mercedes-Benz quality, and the final cars had all of the myriad improvements that were introduced along the remarkable life span of a remarkable model. Moreover, the final cars were loaded with almost all the previous options, both to use up the stock of components, and to act as a sales enticement. The W124 was already being produced at this stage (the very attractive Smoke Silver is a W124 colour). So, full wood trim, cloth upholstery, and all the other options listed below are present on this gem.
The car was owned and loved by a Gold Coast (Qld, Australia) man, and on his death passed to his niece in Victoria (Australia). She drove it for a short while before offering it for sale, when it was enthusiastically purchased by me in 2012. It has been a loved member of the Kelly St Classics family ever since.
Paint is all original, with just minor ageing showing on the bonnet when viewed very closely. It's a very beautiful example of the W123, both to look at and to drive! And click here to see the floors and underneath!
