This
bike had one German owner until end of 2006, and was used extensively for
touring through Europe and the USA. He brought it with him as a private
import when he came here to Australia in 1996. Just after purchase, and
while still in Europe, the bike was upgraded with Lafranconi race mufflers
(upswept, like the original '78-'80 SP and Le Mans models) and the dealer
retro-fitted Akront alloy rims and centres with stainless steel spokes in
place of the fragile cast alloy wheels which cracked almost immediately
when travelling through Spain.
The bike has frame
number VG24102, placing it definitely in 1983.
Original faded and
worn paint repainted to original colours and pattern in Jan 2007. As of
2014 the bike is now on club registration, enjoying a pampered semi-retirement
in northern Victoria.
