1962 Fiat 500 D - modifications
I thought it imperative that I should have some warning of excessive temperatures, both of the engine oil and of the cylinder head casting itself.
The following discreet modifications were specially engineered, and work extremely well...
1 - Cylinder head temperature readout.
To keep an eye on cylinder head temperature, I installed a custom-made thermocouple as per the following photographs.
2 - Oil temperature gauge
3 - Wrapped exhaust headers.
The only other modification was something I do to several of my classic cars to lower under-bonnet temperatures - wrapping the exhaust downpipes with special exhaust wrap.
