The journey from Queensland's Sunshine Coast to central Victoria was a rare exception of my usual policy of picking cars up myself. Frustratingly, it was only a kilometre or two from where I'd picked up the Peugeot 403 only short time before. The job was entrusted to a Brisbane fellow, Mark, rather than using a transport company that utilises several trucks and depots in the long journey. Mark also allowed spare wheels and spare tyres, as well as other parts, to be part of the deal. He battled freakish weather, widespread flooding and adverse traffic conditions, but got the fragile aluminium-bodied, soft-topped car down safely to its new home 2000km from its previous home.
The first two shots are very low resolution, so my apologies, but they were kindly taken and forwarded by the seller's partner.
All loaded...
...and setting off!
The next batch of photos were taken by Mark, the truck owner/driver, at my request. I much appreciate the effort he made!
Loaded onto the truck
on the evening of 17 November, 2022. Almost 2000km to go.
Just over the border
into NSW. Many road accidents made progress very slow today.
Overnight Saturday
19th November in Holbrook, NSW., to avoid hail and wild weather that awaited
further down the road.
The Sports arrives
safely after its big drive from Qld through freakish weather. Well done
Mark!
Finally in the
workshop. Almost impossible to start, and runs terribly, but early
impressions are great.
The unfolding story of work being done to the car can be seen here.
