Here's one for the collector or very fussy player. It's a Made-in-the-USA 1966 Mosrite Joe Maphis model in absolutely superb condition, right down to its original case. Semie Mosely was the creative genius behind these striking and individual guitars, and the history of the company makes very interesting reading. There are many websites that deal with these interesting (and truly GROUSE!) guitars.

Steven Mayer, a writer with the Bakersfield Californian, wrote;

In the 1960s, the name Mosrite was synonymous with reverb-laden surf music, clean Western guitar twang -- and Bakersfield.

Crafted in a nondescript factory just across the tracks from what was then known as the Bakersfield Civic Auditorium, Mosrite's Joe Maphis and Ventures model guitars made the music industry sit up and listen for the better part of a decade.

Surf bands and country music stars, including the Ventures, Glen Campbell and Barbara Mandrell, played Mosrite instruments.

Serial number is D560 - the "D" denotes its the Joe Maphis model (this particular model ran from 1966 to 1971). Pots are dated 47th week of 1966.

The Joe Maphis model has a carved solid spruce top mated to a solid walnut body, a combination that both looks and sounds fantastic. The guitar is completely original and in breathtaking condition. Only a few minor handling marks prevent the guitar from being classed as mint. Even the original plush-lined black tolex hard case is in superb condition. I doubt you would ever find a better, totally original example.
