My enthusiasm for Australian-built guitars, basses and amplifiers is well-known, and that applies to current Australian luthiers at least as much as it does for those of the past.

Damian Lodge has been building and repairing guitars since the 1990s. This particular guitar was built in August 2008, and was one of three demonstration guitars that Damian used at exhibitions and shows. It has had a minor repair completed near soundhole (top left) - see the detailed photograph in the 'more pictures' link below to see it close-up. The repair itself is testimony to Damian's skills as a repairer, as it is virtually invisible, especially 'in the flesh'.

The guitar sounds fantastic, with a great balance and strong projection. It has a solid master grade Western Red Cedar top (Spanish 7-fan bracing pattern), with solid master grade Indian Rosewood back and sides and Jarrah binding. It has an arm rest made from Tiger Myrtle. Neck is Mahogany with a master grade Ebony fretboard and Schaller tuners, and the bridge is Paduak. Scale length is 650mm, and nut width is 52mm. The guitar is finished in traditional French Polish, with a beautiful lustre to the neck, back and sides, and a very light application to the top with a beautiful natural appearance and giving maximum tone and volume. It has been fitted with an optional soundport in the side (see detailed photos in the 'more pictures' link below).

Action is nice and low, measuring just 3mm on both the bass and treble sides at the 12th fret, and the neck is textbook straight. This is an extremely playable and toneful classical guitar! You can see a You Tube clip of the luthier, Damian Lodge, himself playing the guitar here.

The guitar comes complete with a new, good quality plush-lined hardshell case.
