'Ken Oath! This is a real Ken Smith! It was completed 24th June, 1999, number B99/654CMY. It's in mint condition, and comes complete with its Ken Smith tolex hard case. This bass sports the 5-piece laminated Hardrock Maple and Walnut neck of the Custom series, with the darkest, most lush 24-fret long-scale Rosewood fretboard you ever saw, with genuine mother-of-pearl side dots and top dots. The body is solid 2-piece matched Maple, with stunning figuring, hand-picked and cut by Ken Smith. A central part of the Ken Smith operation is the integral timberyard where they stock and cut their own aged tonewoods. Check out their website here to take a factory tour. All the timbers in this bass came from this in-house timberyard, and all final assembly done by hand in the Ken Smith factory in Perkasie, PA, USA. The bass is active, with the Smith BT 2-band EQ circuit with individual bass and treble cut/boost, pickup blend, and master volume control with active by-pass. The Custom was the highest-spec and most expensive of the three BSR 'B' models (Standard, Deluxe and Custom). The BSR 'B' model was discontinued in 2001. Sold to Jeff in the USA
