The 'lawsuit' era in Japanese guitar manufacture is well documented. This vintage Ibanez copy of a Rickenbacker 4001® bass dates from 1976, right in the classic lawsuit period. The serial number shows a June 1976 production date. When you look at this bass you can see what the fuss was all about, and when you plug it into a good bass amp and start playing a good bass groove, you can understand it all the more. This vintage Ibanez is amazing! Neck-through construction, great hardware that accurately replicates the Rickenbacker® original, but coupled with legendary Japanese workmanship and attention to detail, and you have a bass that is in most (all?) respects as good as the original, but at a fraction of the cost. There is some belt buckle wear to the back of the guitar, and some very minor fret wear and other marks and nicks, but this 1976 vintage Ibanez is in great condition! The pickup cover is missing, as is the finger rest, and the original 'Ibanez' name plate/truss rod cover has been replaced with a 'Rickenbacker®' item by a previous owner. Check out the detailed photographs in the 'more pictures' link below. Weight is a nice comfortable 4.2kg, or 9.26 pounds. There is no case with this bass, but it comes with a gig bag and will be securely boxed when shipped to its new owner. Sold to Tony |
