John Scofield's main guitar is an '81 Ibanez AS200, and yours could be too! (in fact if you really want to nail the Scofield sound, we had his favourite amp in stock too!

The AS200 Artist model is one of the most highly regarded guitars ever to come out of Japan, and 1981 is bang in the middle of what is considered by many to be the golden period. Serial number of J815320 indicates a build date in October 1981.

The AS200 Artist model is probably the one guitar that can 'out-335' a Gibson ES-335! Sustain is legendary, and the previous owner no doubt wanted to maximise this characteristic by having a US-made genuine Leo Quan Badass bridge professionally fitted. The threaded anchors for the original bridge have been blanked off with screw-in plugs, which are easily removed if needed. In fact, the original tailpiece, tuneamatic style bridge and height-adjusting thumbscrews are still in the pocket of the original case the guitar comes with (see the bottom picture in the 'more pictures' link below).

A fantastic guitar, built to the highest standards and with the best of materials. The ebony fretboard is simply divine to play, and just look at those incredible inlays!

This vintage Ibanez comes with the original hard shell case, which needs some attention to the hinges (but all the latches work!)
