The Harmony Guitar Company has a long and rich history. In the '60s the naming of their models became very influenced by the American (vs the Russian) space race. They had their Meteors, they had their Stratatone Mars, Mercury and Jupiters. But one of the more popular models was the Harmony Rocket. Whether it was a Red Rocket or their top of the line H-75, these guitars really rocked. The Harmony Rocket offered a cheap alternative to the thin Gibson ES-125s, or the ES-330s, and gained in popularity as the music revolution took off during the '60s.

The early 60’s saw the single cutaway Rocket with “ultra thin cutaway with golden tone indox pickups.” Rockets were fun instruments to play. This is an example (and a damn fine one!) of a '60s Rocket. The sound that was characterized by the DeArmond pickups they used gave them a unique sound that is still sought after today. The bridge pickup on this example screams - incredible output and tone. The neck pickup by comparison is somewhat thin-sounding, and I will give the purchaser the choice of whether they would like the pickup professionally rewound (at no cost to them - we'll wear it), or left original.

A stamp inside the body reads (I think!) 128K54. Harmony experts and enthusiasts will doubtless know what this means more than I do!
