Here's a truly grouse example of the whole 'lawsuit' issue - a blatant copy of a Fender® Precision Bass® made by a high-end Japanese guitar manufacturer. Great Ash body, Maple neck (with Walnut 'skunk stripe), just like the 'original', and even the original hard case is a quite blatant copy! This Fernandes P-bass® copy is from the 'stone logo' era, which ran from 1978 to 1981. It is in truly superb condition, with only minor markings to the body and no fading. This has definitely lived most of its life safe in its black tolex hard shell case, which is also the original Fernandes item. Seeing these instruments in their original cases is extremely rare, and this is the only one I've seen to date. Even the case is in superb condition, with the original interior label and exterior badge intact; the only wear evident is where the bottom strap lug has made a hole in the plush lining.. The bass plays and sounds as good as it looks, which is what you'd expect from a MIJ instrument at the height of the 'lawsuit' era. Powerful and articulate, just like a bass should be! Weight is 4kg (8.8 lbs), and there is virtually no play wear at all on the frets. Sold to Kim |
