This is a custom-ordered Fender Custom Shop 1960 Jazz Bass Reissue Relic (light relic treatment) in Surf Green with a lovely Birdseye Maple neck. It is built to vintage specs with a 7.25" radius neck and stack knobs. It comes with the original brown hardshell tolex case with orange velvet interior, Custom Shop certificate, hang tags, and all the usual Custom Shop case candy. It weighs just 4.1kg or 9lbs 1oz, and is an amazing playing and sounding bass.. Of course, the original 1960-’62 “stack knob” custom-color Fender Jazz Bass remains the holiest of Fender Bass grail. The “J-Bass” proved the market could support fancy, pricier bass guitars; a solid duco-finish Jazz was a hot-rod four-string nonpareil. By the mid ’60s, they were ordered comparatively often – not so in 1960! Highly collectible since the ’70s, a custom-color Jazz Bass still tops the list today (more than $25,000 to $38,000 in custom-color finish in 2010). This incredibly accurate Custom Shop recreation is a lot cheaper than that. Other than the Custom Shop serial number stamped on the neck plate, the decal on the back of the headstock, and the lack of fret wear, you would swear this was a genuine 1960 example. Sold to Nick
