Here we have a beautiful 1979 vintage ES-175T (thin) Gibson guitar, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial number 72089107. These Gibson thinline fully hollow electric archtops were only made between 1976 and 1979, and there were only ever a total of 1,063 made, which makes them incredibly hard to find. Body depth is just 1 7/8". This is one of just 10 Wine Red ES-175T guitars made in 1979! The Gibson ES-175 is the standard in jazz guitars, used by many jazz guitarists since its introduction in 1949. Steve Howe from Yes also used the ES-175 in a rock setting, and it remains his favourite guitar to this day. Truly a classic. The "T" model, or thinline, is a fantastic version, being much more comfortable to most guitarists, yet offering virtually all the vintage tone you would expect of a full-bodied version. The guitar is identical to the full-bodied 175 except for the body depth. This example is totally original, and is in fantastic condition - a couple of tiny flaws in the finish on the top in the area bordered by the tailpiece (see the detail pics below) and the lightest of handling scuffing, which would polish out if that's your thing. Comes in the original Gibson hard case, and finished in the beautiful original deep wine red (burgundy) transparent finish. Wine red was the rarest colour from the ES-175T production, with only 267 being produced in total, and only 10 during 1979! (There were, in total, 457 finished in Natural and the remainder - 339 - were in Sunburst) Character, tone, playability and collectibility all in this one investment guitar. GROUSE, GROUSE,GROUSE!!!
