| Asturias is a low-volume, high-quality guitar manufacturer in Japan, and was founded in 1962. They are still in existence, and a very basic English language website can be seen here. The brand is highly regarded in Japan, and the fan club's website (all in Japanese) can be seen here. This lovely made-in-Japan classical guitar (Asturias AST60 model) was purchased by a woman in the 1980s, but has remained basically unplayed since. The woman's nephew, who was managing the sale of the instrument to Grouse Guitars, indicated that receipts showed his aunt had taken several years to pay off the guitar in the 1980s, with a total price of $3500! This seems somewhat steep to me, and makes me wonder whether the Sydney dealer at the time was acting ethically. I have no idea who the dealer was. Nevertheless, the fact remains that a LOT of money was paid for this guitar when new, more than 20 years ago. There is a slight fingernail (I assume) mark on the soundboard which can be seen in reflected light, and that is about it! This guitar truly is as-new, right down to its original case, polishing cloth and even the factory humidifier still wrapped in plastic. Serial number is 10772. The guitar has a solid Cedar top, and Rosewood back and sides. Neck is Mahogany, while the fretboard is luscious, high-quality Ebony. Scale length is 65cm (25.5"), and action at the 12th fret is 4mm (bass) and 3mm (treble), with plenty of saddle height. If you are looking for a high-quality hand-made classical guitar at a bargain price, this is an ideal opportunity. Sold to David in the USA
