I'd never before seen a 'swirl' finish in the flesh before purchasing this beautiful ASAT - it's amazing! The 'more pictures' link below will give you a bit more of an idea, and I went to a lot of trouble to get the light just right to show the effect as well as I could, but it's one of those things that really has to be seen in the flesh to truly appreciate it. No wonder it's a $US100 option! It also has a white pearloid pickguard, which really sets things off!

I love ASATs (G&L's 'Telecaster®'), as many of you will already know. I've had some truly wonderful examples through the Grouse Guitars doors, and this one's up there with the best of them. The weight is one thing that is immediately apparent, or more to the point the lack of weight! It weighs in at 3.3kg, or a shade over 7 pounds. It's just right, and is a wonderful resonant body. I gig this guitar, and am very impressed by its tone and expressiveness (even if the colour matches nothing I ever wear!)

This 1993 build G&L ASAT (you should already know that G&L was a company started by Leo Fender after he'd left both Fender and subsequently Music Man, and where he worked until the very day before his death on March 21, 1991) has been very well looked after by its previous owner(s). There are a couple of chips to the finish on the edge of the back (on the right-hand lower bout when looking at the guitar from the back) which have been touched up with black lacquer, and are next to impossible to see (check the detail pics in the 'more pictures' link). There is no buckle rash at all, and only the barest hint of wear to the neck and frets.

Serial number is G044378, and the guitar comes in a dark tweed hard case which could well be the original optional tweed case.
