The Telecaster Bass (or Tele Bass) from Fender is probably my favourite Fender bass model. In fact, as a dyed-in-the-wool Telecaster player, when I first branched into playing bass I sought out a Tele Bass as my very first bass. The original series - introduced in 1968 and produced until 1971 - was essentially a re-issue of the original Precision Bass, the 1951 model. The Telecaster Bass was, in effect, Fender's first-ever 're-issue'. This is a beautiful example dating from September 1970. The 'Sep 70' stamp is only just visible on the end of the neck (see the detailed photographs in the 'more pictures' link below), and the serial number of 292232 backs this up. Pots both date to the 42nd week of 1966 (quite common to find such early-dated pots, as Fender made a huge bulk purchase in 1966 and spent years working through the stockpile). This bass is absolutely standard and unmolested except for the pickup, which has been changed to the highly-regarded Seymour Duncan Basslines SCPB-2 pickup, which Seymour Duncan describes as, "A high-output take on the Vintage. In this case, we increase the coil windings for higher output, more punch, and a thicker bottom-end than the Vintage." This is a seriously cool bass! Also check out the '69 Tele Bass we have in stock! The body displays all-over checking to the original finish, which just shows on some of the detailed photos in the 'more pictures' link, and the occasional chip or wear mark, but overall this vintage Fender bass is exceptionally clean, Even the original case is remarkably clean and well-kept. This vintage Fender bass weighs in at bang on 5kg, or 11 pounds. $ not recently valued for the present market but feel free to make a serious offer.
