Now here is a gem!

Dating from the 1950s (I haven't been able to narrow it down to a year), this little Moody amplifier is a very early example of this highly-regarded Australian (Sydney) brand, and it is in stunning original condition.

Valves, from left to right, are 6X4 rectifier, 6AQ5, 6AU6, 6AU6. It would only put out a few watts into the original Sydney-made Magnavox alnico 12" speaker, but does it with oodles of class! The amp runs beautifully, with a nice amount of gain and breakup, although the remarkable originality and very early build of this amp will doubtless make it more of a collectible than an amp to be dragged around and used.

The original leatherette cloth covering is still in place, with a lovely aged patina, and the original speaker cloth is still in fantastic condition. A previous owner has used an ink stamp (in beautiful Copperplate type) to put his name on the inside of the lid, on the transformer, and on the speaker frame, but it is very difficult to read the faded ink now. First name is definitely Peter, with the surname looking like Lee.

Since closing the Grouse Guitars business I have kept this lovely amplifier for my own home use, as I found myself repeatedly returning to it from the wide choice I had at my disposal during the Grouse Guitars years. Perfect for home, or for the studio.

The amp measures 36cm(W) x 39cm(H) x 17cm(D) and weighs 6kg.
