After a decade of working hard to source and present truly grouse* guitars, basses and amplifiers, firstly under the business name Real Note Guitars and then as Grouse Guitars, I reluctantly closed the business, for a variety of reasons including my health, in about 2010.

During the trading years I saw many very desirable instruments and amplifiers go to new owners around the world. Each of these was carefully researched and photographed, resulting in a large body of data which became a go-to source for many enthusiasts around the world.

For many years I maintained the Grouse Guitars website at a higher cost than I could afford, purely to avoid losing this body of work. However, I have now been able to consolidate the files and present them here as a resource for all those passionate about vintage guitars, basses and amplifiers.

I do this largely in memory of the original tone hound, Leo the Beaglier, who was by my side for all those years. Leo's happy little life ended peacefully at home at 2pm Saturday September 30 2017. Happy, gentle and enthusiastic to the end, he brought a smile to many people in his 14 years, 7 months and 3 weeks, and was a most special little friend for me during the most challenging years of my life.

Feel free to view and the many grouse instruments that have sold over the past decade (click on sold guitars, sold basses and sold amps or use the amp knobs at the top of the page to view them). I still have a limited amount of unsold stock, which can be seen at remaining guitars and remaining basses and the items I am enjoying myself can be seen at my instruments and amplifiers. You can also see the 4 custom 'Alumaster' aluminium-bodied electrics. Please note that prices on the files are now a decade old, so I can not guarantee that I will either want to sell a specific item nor honour the price it was listed at a decade ago.
